Aileen Brazeau finishes Race for the Rescues, irvine, Ca

This past Saturday I participated in the Race For The Rescues. I am an animal lover and anything I can do to save a helpless animal, I will.

From their Facebook Page:

“Race For The Rescues is a day when animal lovers of all ages come out to run, walk, shop or adopt – to help save the lives of homeless dog, cats, horses and farm animals in Southern California. This is a fundraiser where 100% of the net proceeds go to local animal welfare organizations. This race is a timed sporting event and we have a mixture of serious athletes competing for times and people who just want to come out and walk with or without their dog to help support the benefiting organizations. ”

This organization distributes funds to all different rescue operations throughout Southern California. For those of you who aren’t able to participate in the run, you can still donate funds on their website.

Until next year…

Holiday Time With Family

I am so fortunate as to have family members on both my side of the family and on Paul’s side, to spend the holidays with. Paul and I also have some really close friends who are just like family, and they take the time to celebrate with us, too. Holidays can be tough for those who have lost most of their close friends and loved ones.

It’s important to always look around and take notice of those who are without people to share these times with, and to make them feel welcomed and loved.  I would like to share some photos from my 2017 family gatherings and to take this time to wish you all the best at the end of 2017 and a Happy New Year for 2018. Life is not all parties and gatherings, so to be able to balance out the more challenging aspects of life with sharing happy times with our family is so important to me.

San Clemente Villas 15th Anniversary

Paul and I made the decision to build the best Senior Living facility we could, and we chose San Clemente, Ca as they place to do just that. San Clemente Villas offers our people a wide variety of things to do, from swimming to singing and dancing to movies and excursions. You can do all of these things, or none of them. It’s up to you. But we wanted people to come here and thrive, be healthy and be happy, not sit in a chair. [Read more…]

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

Aileen Brazeau networking events San Clemente CaFor several years now, Paul and I have hosted Cinco de Mayo Chamber Mixers and Networking events at our San Clemente Villas. This year was one of our best Cinco de Mayo parties ever.

We are fortunate to have a great photographer, Mark Montgomery  snapping photos at many of our events held at San Clemente Villas. This month he did double duty, photographing the Cinco de Mayo event, and another very special event you can read about in our next blog post.

I am always delighted when the residents here at San Clemente Villas and the other business owners in our beautiful community come and join us for an event or mixer. There are so many businesses who support our community and make it a great place to live and work.

Would you like to see some of the photos?

Aileen Attended the San Clemente State of the City Luncheon

I am a proud member of the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce! We regularly hold amazing chamber mixer’s here at my San Clemente Villas. Paul and I love the city of San Clemente and all it has to offer to us and our residents. The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce presents the annual State of the City on the second Friday in April at noon. Join us for lunch as the Mayor addresses significant City matters, such as the economy, development and infrastructure issues. This is an excellent opportunity to network with local business owners, residents and members of the San Clemente City Council.

The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce presents the annual State of the City on the second Friday in April at noon. This year I attended the State of San Clemente Luncheon, where the Mayor spoke about the local economy and any pertinent development and infrastructure issues. This is an excellent opportunity to network with local business owners, residents and members of the San Clemente City Council.  Each year, for the time we have owned the San Clemente Villas, I have made it a priority to be involved in the community, and whenever time permits, I attend Chamber and City of San Clemente Events.

San Clemente is a beautiful city and the people who live here have a great respect for the history of our city, and we all want to ensure that it stays a great place to live.

Special Activities at San Clemente Villas

entertainment and fitness at the San Clemente Villas, Aileen Brazeau co-owner of the san clemente Villas

Susie Vanderlip and  myself.  — what a fun morning with her Dance SOS Dance Crew to entertain our residents. so energizing and fun! — at San Clemente Villas by the Sea. Taken from their website:

“SOS Dance Crew is a group of seniors from 60 to 90 years old with amazing spunk, energy, enthusiasm and love of life that share the joy of dance and  FLASH MOBS in the most unexpected and amusing places! Our first FLASH MOB was at a Starbucks, sharing what SOS thinks is the perfect theme song for both Starbucks and the Dance Crew: “That’s the Way (I Like It)!”

Since then, we have performed Flash Mobs at the Aquarium of the Pacific, Irvine Global Village Festival, Albertson’s Grocery Store (garnering 140,000 views on Facebook!) and auditioned for the 2016 Season of America’s Got talent.  We also present high-energy 30 to 45-minute dance programs at senior/assisted living facilities to entertain and uplift the infirm elderly.

SOS Dance Crew was founded by Director and Zumba Gold Instructor, Susie Vanderlip from a class at Custom Bodies Fitness in Irvine, CA.  The SOS Dance Crew is a family of culturally diverse seniors (African-American, Caucasian, Chinese, East Indian,  Japanese, Pilipino, Taiwanese, Latin, and more). We continue to rehearse and hold Zumba Gold class every Tuesday and Thursday mornings 10:30am – 11:30am at Pacific Dance in Irvine, CA. Come join us!

SOS Dance Crew believes that “EVERY BODY can DANCE!” And wish to inspire everyone of all ages to get up off the couch and MOVE!
Do it for your health. Do it for FUN!  Do it to EMBRACE LIFE!”

Myself, and the residents at San Clemente Villas throughly enjoyed their fitness dance routine. It just goes to show that you are never too old to have fun, to dance, and to exercise. These people were of all different ages, men an women. They had a ball and infused us with their enthusiasm!! It was wonderful.

Running, Running and Running

Running my first Half Marathon !!

In the past year and a half or so I have stepped up my fitness quest. I started by joining a weight loss program and walking. Then a short while later,

along with a couple of friends, I decided to join a running club. In February I completed my first ever half marathon! I didn’t decide this out of the blue. I have been running with the club, training with my trainers to build more lean muscle, and this half marathon took some fair bit of training to prepare for.

I am so proud of myself. I never thought I would do something like this. Between the BTF Farms, our San Clemente Villas, and family, I have plenty on my plate already. But I decided in the last couple of years to put my health first and I have kep my committment to myself. It’s much easier for me to keep my commitments to other people tha it so to keep them to myself. I think most people are like that.

I have said this before, and now I will say it again. As the owner-operator of a Senior Living Home, I see first hand the value of good health and strength. We are none of us immune to illness and accidents, but it’s those who have invested in their health who are most apt to recover quickly.

Did you have a resolution to take better care of yourself this year? Are you keeping your resolution? If you’re not, it’s not too late to start. Get up tomorrow with a goal, and each day, recommit to that goal. If you miss a day, it’s not the end of the world. The next day you get up and do it. No excuses.

That’s what I have been trying to do. Some days I manage to stay in the zone, and some days, life gets in the way. But I keep trying.

The Holidays are Past But Giving Doesn’t Have to Be

“Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.” This is a quote that I identify with. Paul and I have worked hard to build San Clemente Villas by the Sea and Brazeau Thoroughbred Farms and we both have a heart for giving back to those in our community who need help. [Read more…]

Dana Point Harbor Boat Parade of Lights

aileen brazeau, co-owner of san clemente villas, aileen Brazeau philanthrophist, aileen brazeu hors ranch owners

Each year for I don’t even know how man years now, my husband Paul, my friends and I have enjoyed our local Harbor’s Boat parade. Now, if you have been to the boat parade in Newport Beach or Long Beach, you know ours is not in the same league. But for fun, creative ideas and some tongue in cheek decorations, we can’t be beat.

You can put on your best Christmas sweater,  get a cup of hot chocolate,  and head down to the harbor and enjoy the activities before the boat parade. Get there early so you can  enjoy all the fun and snag a great spot for viewing. If you are hungry, you can always head over to one of the restaurants that are located right in the harbor. I am not certain if you would need reservations or not, so plan a head. Some of the restaurants are high enough so you can get a great view of the boat parade.

We have friends who have boats at the harbor, so we get a pretty spectacular close up view of our little boat parade. It only happens on the weekend, this year’s dates are: December 9, 10, 16, & 17 and on Saturday December 3rd bring the children and grandchildren for a visit with Santa.

See you there!!
