The Camino Health Center Fashion Show

On November 5th, I attended the Camino Health Center Fashion Show at the Monarch Beach Resort. There was a silent auction where we could bid on high end fashion items, and a sumptuous gourmet lunch was served. [Read more…]

Oktoberfest 2018

On  Thursday October 4, 2018, San Clemente Villas hosted the The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce Sunset Networking Mixer.

We have hosted Oktoberfest several times over the 16 years we have owned and operated the San Clemente Villas, and it’s always a fun event. While mixers are social events, they are  also a way for local business owners to connect with each other in a relaxed and festive way.

The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce encourages it’s members to participate in these type of events. But you don’t have to be a member to attend.

It is a great way to meet prospective clients, and build relationships with business people from small, mid-size, and large San Clemente companies.

Check with the Chamber and perhaps we will see you at the next mixer!

The Fight To Cure Alzheimers

Aileen Brazeau member of the San Clemente Chamber of commerce, co-owner of the San Clemente Villas Senior Assisted Living FacilityThis is my personal blog, so I don’t usually post about Alzheimers here. Today, however, I will.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia rob people of who they are, and leave them without the ability to do so many of the things they would love to. [Read more…]

Community Involvement

san clemente california, aileen brazeau, co-owner for the san clemente villas, Our San Clemente Villas is a part of the beautiful beach city of San Clemente California. In my mind this city is one of the loveliest places to live anywhere in the world. From one location you can look to your left and see mountains, or look to your right to see the ocean, and in the downtown area of San Clemente you see the red tile roofs that are the trademark of the founder of this seaside city. Aileen, Out and About

Aileen Brazeau finishes Race for the Rescues, irvine, Ca

This past Saturday I participated in the Race For The Rescues. I am an animal lover and anything I can do to save a helpless animal, I will.

From their Facebook Page:

“Race For The Rescues is a day when animal lovers of all ages come out to run, walk, shop or adopt – to help save the lives of homeless dog, cats, horses and farm animals in Southern California. This is a fundraiser where 100% of the net proceeds go to local animal welfare organizations. This race is a timed sporting event and we have a mixture of serious athletes competing for times and people who just want to come out and walk with or without their dog to help support the benefiting organizations. ”

This organization distributes funds to all different rescue operations throughout Southern California. For those of you who aren’t able to participate in the run, you can still donate funds on their website.

Until next year…

Be Careful Out There

Unless you have literally been living under a rock, you have heard the news that our beautiful state of California is on fire. No rain, windy conditions and dry vegetation are causing havoc and unless we get some really strong rain storms in the next few days, it doesn’t look like the fires will be out any time soon. Aileen and Horses

Aileen at os Alamitos Race track

A short while ago, Paul and I decided to sell Brazeau Thoroughbred Farms, but that didn’t mean we stopped loving horses, or heading out to the track. Horses are powerful, beautiful creatures and our love of them remains strong.

On this particular  day I  had run into some old friends here at the Los Alamitos Race Track, and I spent a few hours or so chatting with them, looking over the stables and I even shared some carrots with one of the horses.

I think my favorite part of owning the horse farm was getting to know all of our horses, and watching the babies as they started to grow up and mature. Attending the races, seeing one of our own horses win or at least do well in the race is, to this day, still a joy for us.

So, don’t be surprised if you run into us at the local race tracks.

What’s Aileen Up To ?

Aileen Brazeau, co owner of San Clemente Villas, Aileen brazeau of San Clemente Ca

It’s was the end of June here in San Clemente, Ca. For those of you who aren’t familiar with our area, often times, in June, when everyone else has the toasty warm, sunny weather, we have what’s called June gloom. The mornings are often overcast and cool, followed by the sun peeking out for a few hours mid day and then the fog rolls in. It’s not our favorite time of the year. So what do we do to brighten things up?

We get together with South County Magazine, we invite our favorite photographer, Mark Montgomery,   set out some food and drink, hire OC Elvis and put on our poodle skirts and have a party!

When People Meet You What Do They See?

San Clemente Business owner, Aileen Brazeau attends the annual Alzheimer's fundraiserI was searching for something to inspire this blog post and as I read many of the headlines, the words began to make me feel a little sad. Everything is so fraught with anxiety these days. It can be difficult to see there is good in the world.

Then I came across this quote from Andrew Carnegie
“A sunny disposition is worth more than fortune. Young people should know that it can be cultivated; that the mind like the body can be moved from the shade into sunshine.”

I believe this is what I try to show the world. I work in an industry that sometimes has more than the normal share of bad news. When you work with an aging population, there is plenty of joy to go around and inspire. But there are times when people fall ill or pass away, and certainly those are not joyful times.

I try my best to keep a positive attitude, a smile on my face and maintain what Andrew Carnegie might call a sunny disposition. No matter what, I will do what I can to make people feel valued, cared for and important. I have days when that’s easier than others, and yes, I have some days when I just don’t feel very sunny. Overall, no matter how I feel in the moment, I do my best to remember that I have much to be thankful for and I put a smile back on my face.

What do people see when they meet you? If they see someone who looks angry and stressed out then perhaps you should make it a priority to take care of yourself. To do something that will make you feel better. If you can muster up the energy, take a walk and make a list of things you can feel good about. Call a friend and have a chat.

Look at your reflection as you walk by a store window and see yourself as a stranger might see you. Then let yourself smile. That could change your day. Smile, and perhaps people will smile back and you may just feel a little better.

Life at the Beach

Aileen Brazeau San Clemente Villas, aileen breazeau orange county business owner, aileen brazeau dana pointMy husband and I live in one of the most beautiful parts of this country, Southern California. You might know our area as the OC, which stands for Orange County. Made famous by shows like Laguna Beach and the Housewives of Orange County. The OC became famous on an international level.

It wasn’t that many years ago that the OC was not cool. People who lived in the Los Angeles area thought of us OC people as hicks. Just 30 years of so ago, most of the land south of Mission Viejo was still empty or just newly developed. Things have certainly changed. Today, the OC is  force to be reckoned with.

These days there is some pretty hefty traffic on our freeways. Property in the OC is getting more expensive, especially in our Coastal cities, such as Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente, but unemployment is low and if you are run a service business the chances of making a good income here on the coast are excellent. There will always be people who have dreamed of living by the beach, and we have plenty of beautiful and well maintained beaches here.

Because of where my home and my San Clemente Villas are both located, I am steps away from some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. After a long day, solving problems, running the Villas,  and dealing with issues, there is nothing more magical than a walk by the ocean.

The rhythm of the waves crashing on the shore, the feel of the sand beneath my feet, the fresh smell of the salt air wafting over my back terrace. There is just something so soothing about life at the beach.

This time of the year our weather is pretty much perfect. It’s usually cool in the evenings and early morning. Often it’s foggy until 9:30 or 10:00 am, then the sun comes out and warms us up until late afternoon when the fog rolls in once again. People will come for summer vacation, hoping to get nice and warm and toasty sitting in their beach chairs. Depending upon where they have come from, our cool summer weather can be a sweet treat, or a big disappointment. We get warm and toasty in late August and early September.

If you haven’t made your vacation plans yet, try to come in July. It’s still cooler here than most other areas of the country, but the morning fogs are pretty much gone by then. We will still have the nice, cool evenings but the weather will be warm most of the day.
